ABOUT ME
Hi, my name is Brendan Adair and I have been racing my mountain bike for the past 3 years. Like a lot of cyclists, I started from a young age where I progressed in leaps and bounds to build what I have now.
I started mountain biking when I was living on the Mornington Peninsula (SE of Melbourne) shredding the local trails of Red Hill, Arthurs Seat and the Dandenong Ranges. Since then, I moved to Australia's apple isle, Tasmania, where I became a committee member of the Launceston Mountain Bike Club (LMBC).
My racing was lifted to the next level when I was selected to be a part of the LMBC Pathway Program, a section of the clubs diverse junior development program. This program aims to help young Tasmanian athletes race at their full potential, guiding them to challenge the best riders in Australia at the national championships. The Pathway program is headed up by Phil Leslie, a professional qualified (L1 CA accredited) coach who volunteers his time. I was part of this program for 2 years where I competed at not only my first interstate race but also my first ever national level race. My progress to becoming a national level racer was also supported by a number of industry contacts such as Rocky Mountain Bicycles Australia and Ian Smith from Sprung, a high-end mountain bike specific store in Launceston. Whilst the Pathway program focused on the Olympic format of XC (XCO), I was also able to race interstate and in Tassie at various other races such as Wildside, Forrest Festival and Ben Lomond King of the Mountain.
After graduating from the Pathway Program, I have taken a leadership role, giving back to a program that benefitted me so much. I continue to race my mountain bike around the country and now dabbling into the road racing scene; all with the support of Rocky Mountain Australia, Sprung and now MyMTBCoach. MyMTBCoach is Phil Leslie's commercial side, offering premium coaching services for road or mountain bikers of any level.
